History With The Winthrop Friends

Members of Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church conducted a search for an appropriate space to hold services when their lease in the Union Meeting House in Readfield was not renewed. In searching, a visitation to the Friends Meeting House in Center Winthrop was made. It became evident the Friends Meeting House was appropriate and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on November 27, 2011. The Memorandum stipulated the terms of relationship,  including shared expenses, allotted time for Sunday morning worship services, use of the pipe organ and other concerns. A Coordinating & Advisory Committee(C&A) was formed to address items of interest or concern between the Winthrop Friends Meeting and Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church. After eleven years, our partnership was dissolved as a result of the church being placed for sale this year. St. Andrew’s has officially moved to share the studio space at The Healing Arts @ The Haven at 9 Turkey Lane in Winthrop.
