The Rector

The Reverend Susan Berry Taylor (aka Amma Susan) was ordained on the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, May 31st, 2013 in the diocese of Vermont. Just days prior to that, she graduated with an MDiv from the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA. Amma Susan was called to be our priest-in-charge May 1st, 2017. Although she and previous priests held the fond title of Vicar (a nod to our Anglican heritage), that has shifted to the title Rector with St. Andrew’s formally being admitted into the Diocese of Maine as a Parish at the 202nd Diocesan Convention – by unanimous vote on October 23rd, 2021.

Amma Susan retires from parish ministry at St. Andrew’s at the end of 2023; December 17th being her last Sunday to coincide with Bishop Brown’s Visitation. As St. Andrew’s discerns next steps, the many laity who have been trained and licensed to serve in leadership roles have a calling as well to be the hands and hearts within the communities we serve.
